Are you in a job, career or calling?

Only 25% of people are engaged in their work, and a very, very small percent are happy in their current role. Are you thinking about making a change to a new job or maybe self employment? I suggest you understand the difference between a job,a career and a calling before you make a mistake.

What God Just Told Me About Waiting

Posted on: 1 Comment

I hate to wait – how ’bout you?  Yet…when I am patient enough to actually wait…it seems like nothing  happens?

Then…uh-oh…that’s when the big “trap door” called “taking matters into my own hands” opens wide and takes me in. Off I go trying to make things happen in my own strength. But sooner or later, as I feel like I am carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders, God will say, “Wait – let’s back up and do it my way”.

I recently found myself in a place just like that. With deadlines upon me, I was pushing hard to get a new program launched in our business – to no avail. Things just wouldn’t come together! I became more and more frustrated. Finally, in exasperation, I cried out to the Lord through my tears saying, “OK God…I need you…not tomorrow but right now! I cannot do this anymore. I need your help!”

Sound familiar?

Thankfully God answered that prayer saying, “I love you Pam. Why don’t you put down this load and come spend the morning with me”. As I prayed and listened, He began to show me what it looks like to wait on Him…here’s what He said:

W – “Worship Me! I am the Lord your God. I have your back. My plans and timing are perfect. When you take things like this into your own hands, it is actually idolatry and pride that are weighing you down. Please dear one, let me do the heavy lifting in your life…you simply need to trade in striving for worship.”

A – “Anticipate good things! Just as Moses told the Israelites (over and over again), remember all I have done, remember how far you have come and remember who I am – I AM! No matter what it looks like in the natural – I am at work on your behalf – good things are coming your way.”

I – “Insist on doing your best! I’m not saying jump back into the pattern of taking matters into your own hands, but I love having you join in the work I am doing. It is so much fun to do things together. When I “shine the light” on what I want you to do – come on, let’s go. Be ready…willing…and prepared to do it with excellence!”

T – “Take it – when the time comes! I will go before you. I will fight for you and bring the victory. But just as with my children, the Israelites, you too will have to take possession of the Promised Land that I will lay before you. But when the time comes…KNOW THIS…I will never leave you nor forsake you…seek and I will lead the way.”

A day of being completely overwhelmed and loaded down, finally brought me to a place of brokenness before the Lord. And – wow – did God meet me in a meaningful way. In his mercy and kindness, He showed me how He wanted me to WAIT. What a breath of fresh air!

Won’t you let me know what God has shown you about waiting? Please share in a post below. I’m still very eager to learn!

Celebrating FREEDOM – Let the Fireworks Begin

Our pastor just returned from a mission trip to Cuba rejoicing in our freedom as US citizens.  But, he also said it made him sad…as he sensed that many Christians in our country live in “external freedom” but actually have less “internal freedom” than those he worshiped with him in the communist country of Cuba!

John 8:32 says, “and you will know the Truth and the Truth will set you free”.

But, are you living in that kind of freedom?  Or are you still living a life that has you imprisoned behind the walls of your past…present…even your future?   Are you…

IMPRISONED BY YOUR PAST -  guilt, shame, resentment and condemnation?

IMPRINSONED BY YOUR PRESENT REALITY – financial fears, marriage and family struggles, health issues?

IMPRISONED BY YOUR FUTURE? – no hope, no purpose, no clarity, no power?

It doesn’t have to be like that!

Once you surrender your life to Christ, you are a new creation and the debt of your sin…the mistakes of your past…they are all canceled and done away with!   You just need to let your beliefs catch up with that new reality…the reality of your freedom!

So the question is this…have you encountered that kind of Truth?

Truth is  a person and His name is Jesus!

If you haven’t met him yet…I would love to introduce you.  If you already know Him…isn’t it time to break out of prison and live free to be all that God has created you to be?

“I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord! Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans for hope and a future!” Jeremiah 29:11

Why not make this 4th of July the day that you celebrate not just your external freedom but your internal freedom as well!

Let’s make this a day of real celebration.

What is it you need to do to live in FREEDOM?

As for me…it is believing and fully receiving the gift Christ died for me to have…a clean slate and a God-sized ‘do over’ for my life.  Thank you Jesus!

Find a little sanity in your crazy-busy life!

My list of things to do, places to be and people to take care of never seem to end.

My husband calls this a lack of margin…I call it crazy-busy – and (if I’m really honest) my struggle to say NO!

Throughout the day, I often find myself putting out fires and responding to the urgent ( but is it really?) – rather than being able to do what I value most!

Like just the other day.  I really had a burden on my heart to spend time with my 87 year old mother, but a doctor’s appointment, conference calls and client meetings already had my day filled to the brim. Rather than going by and having lunch with her, a phone call had to suffice.

Is that how God would have me live? I don’t think so!?

Then…as only God can do…when I got to my email last evening, there waited a message from Michael Hyatt…and what was it about? Margin!

Yikes!

Do you think God is trying to get my attention?

Do you think He’s trying to tell me, “Yes Pam, I want you purposeful and productive, but I still want you to keep some unscheduled “white space” on your calendar”?

How about you?

Do you think God might want you to be more available to his promptings by having a schedule that allows the flexibility to actually respond?

As a result of reading Michael Hyatt’s post…I’m laying out my perfect week…and this time, I’m leaving some blank space. I really want to live my life responsive to the Spirit and ready to enjoy those divine appointments and assignments when they come my way.

Won’t you read this post and join me in making some changes?

Isn’t it time to “de-clutter” your calendar and begin living with more peace…God-given purpose…and sanity?

Read, enjoy and let me know your plans! Share your ideas…and let’s encourage each other as we head out on this journey!
